R v Camber, 1976 CanLII 945 (SKQB)

Several dogs entered Camber’s property, where he kept cattle. He shot the dogs. He claimed that the dogs were strays and that the shooting was justified as he thought they were a threat to the cattle. The trial judge accepted Camber’s justification and was found not guilty.

Crown appealed, and the appellate court found that there was no evidence to suggest the dogs were a threat, therefore the shooting was not justified and Camber was found guilty.
