R v Bourque, 2012 BCPC 452

Bourque videotaped herself mutilating and killing the family dog and cat; also had disclosed to a classmate that while living in PG area, she had dismembered and killed cats in the PG area. The killings appeared planned and premeditated and would have caused a great deal of suffering to the animals.

Sentenced to: (1) Six months time served; (2) An additional month for each cruelty count (2); (3) An additional month with 1 month served on a charge of possessing a weapon; (4) 3 year probation (with multiple conditions, including not owning an animal or bird); (5) A lifetime animal prohibition on owning/residing with animals or birds.
